Destination Wedding Photography

For those getting married abroad

Do you and your partner have wanderlust in your hearts and yearn for the magnificence and beauty of far flung lands to take your vows?

Well, I can totally understand that. The blue skies of Italy. The sandy beaches of the Caribbean or Thailand or far flung Bali. The ski slopes of the Alps. The relaxed grandeur of a French Chateau. The dramatic mountain vistas of Canada. It’s all possible.

How about your wedding photographs though?

If the experience is all that matters to you, then the local photographer will be fine. However, if the visual memories are really important, taking an experienced destination photographer with you might be right.

And it might cost less than you think.

Why take a photographer?

There are several nations which tend to excel at wedding photography. The USA. Australia. And the UK too.

We are among the most passionate photographers in the world and the quality of results that we deliver are regarded with envy across many countries.

So, reason number one is creativity.

Moving on, if you, your friends and family can’t quite understand the photographer or if they can’t understand what is that’s important to you, it can become frustrating.

So, the second key reason is communication.

How does it work?

It’s really simple.

I will typically arrive two days early to ensure there are no problems with flight delays and leave a day or two after the wedding.

While I’m there, I will do my best to meet your friends and family before the wedding day in order to let them get used to me. If you have time, I’m happy to include a quick engagement shoot too and visit the venue with you.

On the return journey, I will ensure that one copy of the photos is kept on my person at all times and one copy in my hold luggage. I’m really picky about this.

Afterwards, I will finish your photos and deliver them as a digital download. After that, you’re welcome to print them, or discuss albums with me.

A natural traveller

I’ve been all over .. really! I love to travel and see the world in different ways. Below are a couple of photos from my adventures.

My photography style

I’m all about relaxed and fun coverage of your wedding. If you want natural photography, you’re definitely in the right place.

My goal at the end of the day if for you to feel like you had a guest who happened to be a photographer, rather than a wedding photographer.

So, I’ll laugh with you and your guests. I’ll be close by and get involved in what’s happening. I’ll capture all of the most meaningful moments with beauty and style.

Wherever in the world you chose to be.

Carla & Lee

I joined the couple on the Greek island of Santorini for their wedding at Santoini Gem.

That view!

I’d not been to Santorini before, but I realise now why it’s becoming the European capital of destination weddings! Those cliffs are incredible!

It was a late afternoon wedding and I joined the girls (and bridesmale) for preparation in their hotel, before making my way across to the guys and the remainder of the guests.

The ceremony commences

Once the gasps of delight had subsided, Carla made her way down the aisle towards the sea and her patient – and tearful – groom.

The sun was smiling on them as they were married. Afterwards it was the turn of their guests, who were beaming from ear to ear.

And the sun sets on a beautiful day

After some photographs, they made their way in for dinner and riotous speeches. The conclusion of their day was an official first dance under the stars followed by plenty more fun.

So behind the camera, I’ll laugh with you and your guests. It helps people to be natural in front of the camera.

Fun in the sun!

Destination weddings require a different mindset due to the amount of sunshine.

Typically I will face people away from the light on a sunny day, while getting creative with the backgrounds and shadows everywhere.
